The AIST organized its annual conference in Conakry, focusing on the impact of digitalization on the Treasury profession and the accountability of public accountants.
The conference was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Guinea, Mr. Amadou Oury Bah, in the presence of numerous members of the government, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Mourana Soumah, the Governor of the City of Conakry, and the Director General of the Treasury and Public Accounting, Mr. Kabine Traore.
The three-day conference allowed our delegates to exchange views and learn about best practices to support their countries in the reforms associated with this ongoing revolution.
At a time when financial administrations are modernizing their tools and procedures, the role of the public accountant is being redefined. Automation, digitization, artificial intelligence: these changes are transforming practices and raising new legal, organizational, and human resources issues. The conference aims to shed light on these issues through experience sharing, cross-perspectives, and high-level discussions.
For two days, experts and practitioners from several countries, institutions, and companies (Guinea, Morocco, Hungary, France, the World Bank, and Microsoft) discussed three main themes:
– The effects of digital transformation on organizations and professions;
– The evolution of accountability regimes in the digital age;
– The growing role of artificial intelligence in accounting functions. Workshops provided an in-depth look at skills and governance issues, before a cultural closing day. This was a strategic opportunity to consider the future of public finance in the era of digitalization.
